Vanessa Miller

Mexican folk art is a big inspiration for me. Particularly the day of the dead. The vibrant colours. Skulls and flowers together, the playfulness and joy.
I’m also fascinated by Indian folk art. The symbolism behind the deeply spiritual symbols and images. The decorative style of Henna and intricate mandalas.
Tattoo art and flash sets of the classic American tattoo style play another inspiration. The bold solid lines and deep colours. Roses and gypsy women, sailing ships and swallows.
Music is a part of my creative process. I always have music playing in my studio. Records of the 60’s and 70’s lying around offering another form of inspiration.
I like to find second hand vintage treasures to up cycle and redecorate with my colourful style. Using acrylic, paint pens and a sprinkle of glitter.
Useable art in the form of colourful home wares to embellish my world.
