Sally May Mills

A commitment to clay has called Sally home after a decade of living abroad. She creates contemporary functional ceramics in a light-filled studio, set in an acre of native bush and produce gardens. Sally studied ceramics in Bali and Japan, and is mentored by local potter Bill Meiklejohn. She is drawn to the physical and meditative aspects of wheel throwing and strives for honest expression, with a considered sense of form and proportion.

There are qualities of calmness, joy, and simplicity in her work, with consideration for beauty and the authenticity of function. Stay for a chai in the studio garden and connect with the maker and the handmade.
