Deborah Salkeld

My mosaics are in a constant state of evolution.  I think of Mosaics as tactile paintings that can be outdoors.  I love the depth of them, they draw you in to touch them.

I love the fact that I can take something broken, like a plate or tile and give it new life, it's magical and it feels great to recycle. I recycle plates, glass, stones, shells, what ever I can find. There are some plates in my cupboards that I secretly can't wait to be chipped or broken so I can use them in my mosaics.

My family  call my studio the Smash Room, this space allows me to focus and enjoy the meditative qualities of creating mosaics. I love the whimsy that mosaics can bring to a garden.
